Background:
Scion of the small Antillian Muslim community, S.A. Khan comes from a solidly middle class family in Presque Isle. After graduating from secondary school, he attended Antillian Polytechnical Institute. Upon graduation, he ran and was elected to the Le Grand Provincial Council. After serving there for a year, he resigned to run for Mayor of Presque Isle. He was elected to three two-year terms, after which he became head of the Antillian Liberty Union, an organization modeled on the ACLU. He has held that post for 1 year.

Khan is straightforwardly socialist, and is outspoken in favor of Antilian membership in La Francophonie. For this reason, he is immensely popular among non-Anglophones, and is often referred to as "the voice of the minority".
