hmmm...  Talk about a 2/2.  It would nice get within a tenth of a point on both major races this evening, especially one without a poll.

Barbour presently at 56.16%, FYI.

I'll just point out that this was the closest of the 3 gov races this year, just as I predicted all along, and deserved to have at least ONE poll when the others had so many...

What does it look like in the state House and Senate races?  Did Democrats take back control of the Senate?

With 80% of the vote counted, Barbour now has up to 58%.
------------------

And it looks as if Republicans are sweeping virtually every statewide seat except Jim Hood's, and with margins -for the most part- over 55%.

Hmmm... Should've stuck with the original prediction.  I knew it when I saw Harry giving Barbour 54%.

Well Eaves did win Bush county Chickasaw by a wide margin. However he lost by a similar margin in Panola, which had almost identical 2004 numbers.

What does it look like in the state House and Senate races?  Did Democrats take back control of the Senate?

Perhaps the better question to ask is, have Republicans taken over the House yet?  They have won nearly every statewide seat except one, which suggests that there is a Republican wave sweeping over Mississippi.  I seriously doubt there will be any Democratic takeover of the state Senate given overall trends in this state.

So far, Democrats have defeated two Republican incumbents; the GOP knocked off one Democrat. If this pattern holds true, the Democrats have retaken the Mississippi State Senate.

It's amazing that, despite the incredibly heavy gerrymandering of those MS districts, seats still change hands.

Surpisingly, it looks like Democrats have actually made a net gain of two in the state House.  It also looks like they have gained three in the State Senate, which would give them a 28-24 majority.

It kinda seems too good to be true for Dems though.

Unsurprisingly, my family's home county in MS [Clay] voted for Eaves, it seems.

It's majority black. Black people would vote for a jar of mayonnaise if it were the Democratic candidate.

Yes, and they successfully did so in this very election.
