How would the 1996 Presidential Election turn out if these were the tickets?

Democratic

President: President Bill Clinton of Arkansas
Vice President: Vice President Al Gore of Tennessee

Republican

President: Journalist Pat Buchanan of Virginia
Vice President: Senator Phil Gramm of Texas

Independent

President: Billionaire Ross Perot of Texas
Vice President: Economist Pat Choate of District of Columbia ??

Liberal Republican

President: Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania
Vice President: Senator Olympia Snowe of Maine

This scenario involves Pat Buchanan winning the Republican Nomination and selecting pro-life Senator Phil Gramm to be his veep. This infurates the liberal and moderate wings of the Republican Party, who end up forming their own party the Liberal Republicans. They nominate Arlen Specter and Olympia Snowe. The rest remain the same as RL, with Clinton/Gore being re-nominated and Perot/Choate being nominated by the Reformers.

Discuss with maps.

This would be a very interesting scenario.  The GOP really has an awful ticket, and the LR ticket would do much better than Buchanan/Gramm.

Clinton/Gore: 38% PV, 326 EV
Buchanan/Gramm: 26% PV, 108 EV
Specter/Snowe: 31% PV, 104 EV
Perot/Choate: 5% PV, 0 EV
