And you're telling me that you knew what that was on your own?  One of my favorite teachers was a Jew.

Uh, yeah.

Congratulations, Al! You've entered the hallowed ground graced by men such as war criminal Henry Kissinger, pathological liar and enemy of peace Yassir Arafat, and the worst President of the 20th Century, Jimmy Carter.
Agree with everything but the last part. There were far worse out there. Including his successor, IMO.

I can see some reasons why Vice-President Gore deserves this honor, but it is a massive injustice that Herbert Hoover never won the Nobel Peace Prize. I guess saving Europe from starvation twice is not enough. Wink + Tongue

Bad move by the Nobel people... what a dumb and ridiculously political statement.  I'm not saying there's anything wrong with exposing global warming, mind you... but, Peace?  C'mon.

Of course not.  He channeled his superhuman strength into singlehandedly causing the Great Depression, thus creating a huge crisis that he was just about to swoop in to fix with his own two hands, before that whippersnapper FDR took over, obviously! Smiley

Not to mention war monger Teddy Roosevelt.

He was never involved in a war except making the peace treaty(I.E. Russo-Japanese War.)

Well, I don't care for Mother Theresa.

Incidentally, Ron Paul wants to defund UNICEF.  How nice of him. Smiley

A bit off topic, but I had a teacher from Africa that hated UNICEF. Said it was just part of a conspiracy by the Rockefellers to kill off the people in Africa by encouraging them to [gasp] have abortions. I always thought they helped feed like starving people, but I guess I was decieved.

On topic though, I'm pretty sure this was meant as a slap in the face of Bush, but nothing wrong with that. There's really no better way to send the message, I guess. I wish Gore would get in though, as I'd like Clinton to at least have to put some effort into winning the nomination.

Well deserved on Gore's part and good to see.

Global warming certainly will contribute to war and terrorism in the future as food/water supplies get more scarce, so the issue certainly does help contribute to global peace.

Gore gave a blunt "no" when asked about his level of interest in a cabinet position.  if he's not running for president, he won't return to the government at any other level.

I'm pretty sure that violates an anti-nepotism law passed when RFK was named AG.

Maybe Rudi Gulianai will name him in a reach-across the aisle.

Attacking the Nobel Peace Prize because they don't like Gore says more about the character of the attackers than the attacked.

Al Gore unquestionably has been a leader in raising awareness of global warming.  Whether global warming is a threat that ultimately "threatens the peace" it is a threat none the less.

As far as the first accusation that this is not relevant to the Presidential election I say:

How can any news item that forces the front runner, Hillary Clinton, to put up a picture of Al Gore on HER own website not be relevant?  Every candidate and every major news outlet in the country ran with the story of Al Gore's winning the Nobel Peace Prize speculation on how it will impact the presidential election of 2008.  It is relevant.

Do candidates normally name their SoS?

No I meant  after he won the presidency.  Hahaha.

I thought maybe you meant to balance out the ticket somehow - and I'm thinking, "that doesn't normally happen."

Well I tend to guess that Clinton would select Biden as SoS.

Actually by law cabinet choices can't be named prior to the election, due to the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act.
