In 1968, if New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller were the Republican Presidential nominee and former Alabama Governor George Wallace were the Democratic Presidential nominee, would Rockefeller carry DC?

Please discuss.

Given the social stances between Wallace and Rockefeller, I'd say Rockefeller wins about 70% of the vote.

I'm sure Wallace's platform would have been very appealing to urban DC blacks.
