Here are the past results:

1960: Nixon 58.4/Kennedy 41
1964: LBJ 56.9/Goldwater 42.6
1968: Nixon 49/Humphrey 47.4/Wallace 3.5
1972: Nixon 53.7/McGovern 45
1976: Carter 50.3/Ford 46.7
1980: Reagan 45.8/Carter 41.8/Anderson 10.3
1984: Reagan 54.3%/Mondale 45.1%
1988: Dukakis 50.4%/Bush 48.7%
1992: Clinton 41.4%/Bush 31.6%/Perot 26.2%
1996: Clinton 49.2%/Dole 36.0%/Perot 13.2%
2000: Bush 47.2%/Gore 45.0%/Nader 6.4%

I'm voting for Kerry becuase:

1-this part of Minnesota is trending Democratic (just compare the 1976 results in Olmsted county to the 2000 ones, and remember, in 1976 Mondale was on the ticket!)
2-Nader will be a much smaller factor, and he's the only reason Bush took it last time
3-There will be lots of pissed off college kids and die hard ABBers, and that'll increase turnout and help GOTV efforts.

I meant MY county (Blue Earth), not YOUR county. These polls can be confusing.

whatever happened to the big debate between Beef and Al?

But whatever the case, Bush is coming here next week. Time to start making protest signs!

btw, here's a funny story on how my city's name came to be.

The Native Americans called this area "Mahkato", which meant "Blue Earth" in their language. That's how the county got its name. Since this was the first city settled here and still the only one of significant size, it was to be called "Mahkato" as well. But apparentely the top of the "h" got left off on some official document and the result was "Mankato". Well apparentely that got listed as the official name anyway. And in the Natives' language, Mankato meant "blue skunk"
