Many fascist regimes actually encouraged abortion. Some even made it compulsory. It was only certain women who weren't allowed them. See: Nazi Germany; People's Republic of China (post Deng).

The words "Fascist" and "Moderate" don't go together.

True, although you could make a case for "radical centrist", since they stole a lot of ideas from the far left and far right. I'd just call them far (bottom) right though.

Fascism strikes me more as an evolution of populism taken to its logical extreme.

Actually I'd agree with Straha here.. (well, a specific form of populism in certain countries...)

Btw can I guess where the origin of this thread?

It was something DWTL said, wasn't it?

It was inspired by Rudy Giuliani.

What, is BRTD saying that a Giuliani presidency would be a fascist dictatorship?

BRTD failed again. Giuliani is basically a pro-choice diet neocon not a blood and honor demagogue.

What is with politics and people exaggerating to the point of ridiculosity?

I don't think the word "fascism" even means anything anymore.

First of all, Giuliani doesn't really support legal abortion.  He probably did in the 1990s, these days it is more of an inconevenient talking point to make himself look moderate.  He supports every restriction on abortion you could imagine.  Name a roadblock to getting an abortion and he'll support it.

Either way, Giuliani would support surveillance on all of our emails, phone calls, airplane itineraries, etc., and the amount of torture would probably increase with him in power.  There's nothing "moderate" about that, regardless of whether he supports rape victims getting an abortion, or gay couples being allowed to hold hands in designated areas in public, or whatever his previously liberal stances have been watered down to in order to win the Republican primary.

Hah. I would ask you to think about that statement rationally but I don't think you're capable of doing that.

Giuliani is authoritarian-leaning, but he's not a fascist.

I have never really understood what you people had against parental consent, other than you simply want to see as many abortions as possible occur.

Pro-choice means pro-woman's choice. Period. Parents aren't the woman so they don't get a say.

And the legal definition of "woman" is 18 or older, so what's your point.
