Bruno aide quits after making threatening phone call to Spitzer's father

Robert stone an aide to Joseph bruno resigned after a voicemail filled with threats to Bernard Spitzer (Elliot's father) was traced to his apartment.  Stone denied the claim and stated his landlord who is a Spitzer supporter set him up, however his alibi (a Broadway play he claimed he was seeing at the time of the voicemail) didn't check out as their were no performances at that time.

Typical Republican. Well, I have no evidence that my political opponent is illegally wiretapping, but I'll accuse him anyways. Meanwhile, I will ignore the fact that the President of the United States, whom is a member of my own party, authorized a massive massive illegal wiretapping program.

The NY Post article on the story labeled him a GOP aid, top adviser and Consultant to Bruno.  Regardless, this is someone with very close ties to Bruno who threatened Spitzer's father, and then made up some completely whacked out story to try to say it wasn't him, a story which was actually similar to an excuse he made when involved in a controversy while working for the Dole Presidential campaign in 1996.

Self-important douchebags come in all political flavors.  This one happened to be a Republican.  And thankfully, it looks as if he'll never be able to hold a serious political job again.
