Right now, Mexico is home to many ex-pat communities of Americans and Canadians. They usually do the same thing as illegal immigrants from Mexico, come legally, then overstay their visas and often violate other immigration laws, also usually don't bother to learn Spanish. The Mexican government tolerates them though because of all the extra money they bring to the country.

So should they be deported? It seems hypocritical to call for full deportation of Mexican illegal immigrants in the US but not vice-versa.

It's what we're doing to Mexicans. Why wouldn't they do it to us?

I find the visa regulations I must meet as an expat here in Thailand terribly onerous.  I say everyone should be allowed to live everywhere.

Agreed.  Police should fine jaywalkers $100 even when there's no traffic.

Actually, jaywalkers should be shot in the back without warning on account of their resisting arrest.

Well, I think they should only be shot if they're not run over first.

^^^ There is a reason why nations have defined borders and rules for entry.  If they are there illegally, they should be deported back to their country of orgin, even if they are from the US.

Mexico shouldn't be sovereign so this ideally wouldn't be an issue.

The difference is that in Mexico it is illegal for non-citizens to own property/homes.

Really? Wow. Never knew that. That isn't exactly the policy Mexican politicians are pushing for when it comes to illegal Mexicans in the U.S.

You can't "own" property in Mexico, but you can sign an extended lease (something like a 50 or 99 years). A friend of mine told me that.

ALSO

Illegal Immigrants in Mexico get put in prison, and from what I've heard about Mexican prison's, US Prisons are like the Ritz Carlton in comparison.

No... if they hate America so much, then they should be allowed to rot in a Mexican jail.

Oh, yes, Mexico's Freedom House rating drops about a point just because of thier prison system.

As I said, we shoudl let them rot in Mexican jails.

They don't go to Mexican jails though. The government tolerates them and even provides them with anglophone services. Sometimes they're penalized upon returning home, but it's a fine of like $20.

That's because in Mexico the constitution states that all land belongs to the government, and you can only lease land. So that statement is half correct.
