Updated plot of all SC polls this year, including this one:



As you can see, 17% for Romney in SC is way above the trendline for him.  We'll have to wait for other polls, to see if this is anything more than a blip.

Romney did uncharacteristically well (high-teens) in the last PPP SC poll too so this shouldn'tbe a shock.  he's probably polling closer to 10% there in all reality.  I can't see him being too competitive in SC unless there's no Thompson and his IA/NH momentum is gigantic.

South Carolina has been the only one of the four early primary states that Romney wasn't ahead/competitive in. If the primaries weren't 6 months away, I'd say he was a lock.

Strong result for Romney; easily his best yet in SC. Maybe he can win Deep South primaries; if he can, he has this election in the bag.

Also good for Huckabee, of course.
