The Democrats have a one-point edge among men and an 18-point edge among women. Republicans have a one-point edge among white voters while Democrats have an overwhelming advantage among everyone else. Unaffiliated voters prefer Democrats by a 41% to 30% margin.
Seventy percent (70%) of American voters now believe it is likely Democrats will retain control of Congress following the 2008 elections. That figure has changed little in recent months and includes 40% who say it’s Very Likely Pelosi’s party will keep running Congress.
The national telephone survey of 800 Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports August 1-2, 2007. The margin of sampling error for the survey is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
