Bucks County, eh? I dont mean to be nosy, but where abouts in Bucks do you live? (North, South, etc.)

Lower.
Ah. A shame, because if it was in Western, gettin together mightve been possible...oh well.

Heheh, nothing personal to you or anyone else who's said...let's get together...I don't do the internet meetup thing.  I know that may sound unfair or snobbish, but i figure its less trouble that way and fairly applied if I say that to everyone.

I hope Bergen County inches up 0.2% to 3.6% in June, so that my county shares the #1 spot with it Wink

Ah, well, someone has us beat already.

That map of unemployment levels looks dubious, as if some states are bad at reporting it. I find it hard to believe that Alabama has drastically lower unemployment rates than Mississippi and Georgia, for example.

Well Alabama`s rate was 3.5% in June, Georgia was at 4.3% and MS at 6.0%.

I've received a few head hunter calls from businesses in Alabama.  While I'm sure that I could live like a king down there, I'm not ready to put up with their weather.  hahaha

February 2008: 5%

March Data should be out today. I think it´s down to 4%, considering that Salzburg State's unemployment dropped 18% compared with a year ago to 3.3%.

I always use the rule of thumb that the unemployment rate in the US is about twice the official figures, as they are rather obviously lies.

I don't really believe this relatively...only one county in WV above 10%?

Unemployment statistics are even more of a fiddle in the United States than other places (which is quite an achievement actually). The sort of economic problems WV has aren't short-term, so WV has (ho, ho, ho) relatively few areas of high "unemployment". The employment rate in WV is barely above 50%.

There are even 3 different ways here in Austria to calculate the unemployment rate.

National method (the one I used for my county above):

Sum of all registered employed people (without self-employed) + registered unemployed, divided by the registered unemployed

The method used in Germany:

Sum of all registered employed people (including self-employed) + registered unemployed, divided by the registered unemployed

The Eurostat method:

Based on a telephone survey, sum of all employed people (including self-employed) + unemployed, divided by the unemployed

So, according to our national method the unemployment rate in Austria was 5.8% in March, according to the method that is used in Germany it would be 5% and according to Eurostat our unemployment rate is 4.1% ...
