Two teens from opposite coasts are marching across the country for peace, hoping to gain followers and attention with each step.

Ashley Casale, 19, of Clinton Corners, N.Y., and Michael Israel, 18, of Jackson, Calif., had hoped others who oppose the war in Iraq would join them on their 3,000-mile walk from San Francisco to Washington.

However, since they started off May 21, it's just been the two of them for the most part.

They said most people have been receptive, even if they have not agreed with their position on the Iraq war.

"Our message is about ending the war in Iraq, but it's more than that. It's about cultivating peace in our daily lives and responding to things in a peaceful, nonviolent way," Casale said.

I suppose the exercise and fresh air will be good for them, even if the purpose is entirely useless.

That's what I was thinking, but I think they're too young to remember that movie.

If you want to see more teenagers protesting the war just reinstate the draft.

Just kidding. Don't ever do that.

If they come through Illinois, I might drive alongside them for awhile. Walking is so 20th century.

Hmm... I wouldn't exactly advise them to walk through Mississippi.

There's absolutely no reason why they shouldn't walk through Mississippi.

I think it was the intention of DWTL to show you a map ... and that MS is way down south. They are marching from San Francisco to Washington DC until Sept. 11, so they canīt go down to MS Wink

No I wasn't. Fact: Mississippi is still mostly pro-war. How is that derogatory?

Don't worry, I'll be derogatory just because I can. However, I'll agree with Harry - they've got no reason not to go to Mississippi... unless they're black or queer. Wink

If you want to see more teenagers protesting the war just reinstate the draft.

Just kidding. Don't ever do that.

It's why Charles Rangel introduced the draft-purely for political purposes, to get more people angry about the war.

Unlike me Rangel has repeatedly said he is serious about it.

BTW What's up with the new handle?
