Dave hasn't created any trolly "calendar event" thread yet, so I will start this thread on the primaries we have left until Super Tuesday. Feel free to make predictions! Smiley

I am going out on a limb, predicting that Kerry will win every remaining primary, except, possibly, some favourite son primaries, NC, Vermont, etc.

Most likely, yes.

This reminds me of the fact that Dean has made WI his make or break state (weird, like anyone has ever cared about WI...), which most likely means that he will drop out after the WI primary.

McCarthy won in '68, making Johnson drop. So it was important that year.

Dean has done something really stupid making Wisconsin make or break. He has broadcast his strategy to the world. Also, Michiganders feel sllighted. At this point I'd say Dea'll be a humorous footnote to history in two weeks or less.

Dean also said he wants to win California, New York, and Florida, because they are big delegate states.

Well, that's a correct assessment, at least. Smiley

Well, everyone wants to win those Smiley . . . But Dean has very little chance now.  He peaked too early.

He did not peak too early. People just weren't paying attention at the time, except for us. As soon as the real campaign season began in late December, he began to crumble.

If the expectation is for Kerry to win every state, he will keep having the results he had in Missouri, North Dakota, and Delaware a landslide win with just over 50%.

The next set of primaries will not go as well as Missouri did for Edwards in comparison to his struggling rivals (remember if that and SC were the only result it would solely be a Kerry-Edwards race). In the next week or two Dean and Clark will crumble, and it will be Edwards vs. Kerry. Edwards will have to win the northernmost southern states like Virginia and Tennessee, and will require Clark to be out of the running by then.

The super Tuesday schedule will hurt Edwards, because the South votes a week later.

The question is will Clark be out before Virginia and Tennessee?

Yeah, a humorous footnote about a guy who actually built a real grass-roots campaign, brought in new voters to the party, did what HE wanted and not the DNC, and nearly won the nomination. He would have actually brought change to Washington.

Don't rule Edwards out yet. When it is a two man race, he beats Kerry with young people and in the South. We still have not seen Kerry break 60% which shows that he is not the first choice of a huge portion of democrats. But it is an uphill battle to beat a candidate with the democratic establishment.

Hey, John. What ever happened to..."DEAN WILL WIN! DEAN WILL GO AGAINST BUSH AND LOSE TO BUSH! THE DEMOCRATS WILL PICK DEAN! DEAN DEAN DEAN!!"?

What ever happened to that?

P.S. I told all you Republicans who desperately wanted Dean to win that I would come back and RUB it in your faces when he loses. Smiley Wink

of_thisnation is JOHN! Literally? That's hysterical. That's gotta be the greatest thing I've heard in my life. Hey, John, do you think Swwager will beat Shpapatron? Ha! Really, its's John?!?

And Demrepdan, you were right. Back when you and me were in the top 7 posters with about 60 posts each, (ah, the good old days,) when you're Illinois was red and I had a flamewar with Realpolitik and Ryan was omnipresent, back in those Golden oldie glory days I thought Dean would win, and it would be manna from heaven for the GOP. Bush carrying Massachusates in the general election, coattailed Senators without number, a handpicked Bush Supreme Court who would rule in majesty forever... the sky was the limit. And now Dean had to explode-implode in a spectacular burst of Geography Bee-ing and destroy my beautiful dreams. As sad as some Deaniacs may be that someone else will get the nod, I assure you, I am a hundred times sadder.

Cry I do remember when you and I were within the top 7 posters...but now we're bottom tier....because of all these people and their danged posts! *shakes cane* And now you reminded me that I miss Ryan...he hasn't posted in a LONG time....ah boy. Things change my friend..*sigh*...things change......

MI might give him trouble...isn't he pro-NAFTA?

I think steel tariffs halped Bush in MI and hurt him in OH and WV.

He has won them, if I've seen this right.
Michigan
Kerry 52
Dean 17
Edwards 13
Clark 7
Sharpton 7
Kucinich 3
others 1

Washington
Kerr y48
Dean 30
Kucinich 8
Edwards 7
Clark 3
Sharpton 0
others 4

I don't have a clue how accurate these results are exactly, but there's no doubt who won. And Edwards looks mighty weak, so I guess Kerry is safe and sound the nominee (unless that's a Dean comeback we're seeing here in those second places, but that's highly unlikely)

I wonder why Kucinich finished third in Washington.  Maybe it was the latte-drinking liberals Smiley

It's because it doesn't ask you how important you think the question of whether your candidate can win...
My result was
Kucinich 84%
Socialist party 80%
Dean 78%
Sharpton 78%
Clark 74%
Kerry 68% (and they say he's got a liberal voting record. I don't get it)
Edwards 68%
LaRouche 57% !!!
Libertarian party 21%
Bush 18%
Philips 11%

57% for LaRouche? Now, that is something to not be proud of! Wink

Yeah, I don't know where they got that from...

I don't remember my result, but I think I got Kerry highestm so I guess I should be pleased. But no really high results, unfortunately.
