Last year accusing the Moslems of being violent (and then not having the spine to back it up)

No he didn't. That was taken way out of context.

This on the other hand is just ridiculous.

Don't agree with the guy whatsoever, but there is no need to bash all Catholics.

Especially since maybe 15% of Catholics agree with or even care about half the stuff the church teaches.

Source?

He's just estimating, but can anyone dispute that? How many Catholics use birth control for starters?

Notice the "maybe". I'm going by personal experience, and by the fact that Catholic states tend to be pretty pro-choice and far more open to gay rights. And as BRTD said, birth control, are you sh-itting me? What Catholics don't use birth control? It's probably less than 15%. Then take other countries...Latin America which is increasingly liberal with regards to everything sexual and moral, and I don't think I even need to go into Catholic Europe. Africa you might have a case for though.

Let me establish what you mean here, are you saying Protestants do not follow a way to salvation whereas Catholics do?

Article VI of the constitution says there shall be no religious test as a qualification for any public office. And the 1st amendment says congress shall pass no law respecting an establishment of religion nor restricting the free exercise thereof. So the founders intended to keep religion out of politics and politics out of religion. Once again they got it exactly right.

I shudder to think what our government might be like if the pope or any other religious leader also ran our government.

I'm pretty sure that many people here would probably think that it was Heaven on Earth. Tongue

You can follow a path to salvation without being a true faith so that is a badly worded question.  Most of the tenets of Protestants are correct, however, to be a true faith you would have to accept the Eucharist is the actual body and blood of Jesus

The document that the pope approved specifically said that Catholicism is the only way to salvation.

Well then I will read the document and render a further opinion, however, he is also obligated to say this or he'd make a crappy pope.

BTW, glad to ignoring Jfern's obviously anti-Catholic comment

The Last time I remember hearing the Pope saying something profound was this:

"I don't know what's wrong with it, chicks bleed out of their vaginas all time."

Infallability? Totally.

Obviously the RCC believes it is the only true church.  They have believed this for a long time so this should not come as a surprise for it is not news.  Nor should other Christians be offended by such claims.
