I thought for the longest time that I was an introvert, but it's become more and more clear to me I've actually been an extrovert this whole time and am just a very judgmental person.

I voted ambivert. On personality tests I usually score towards the middle, which makes sense as I have never been either an absolute loner who shuns social interaction or a social butterfly who lives off it. I enjoy interacting with many people greatly and can be very outspoken, but can also enjoy my time alone or just with my wife or a close friend or family member just as much or more.

Though sometimes I do score higher on extroversion depending on the test, as on the MBTI I historically have scored ENTP. Last time I took it though was ENTJ, which I also have occasionally gotten before. The J/P is related to conscientiousness (being more organized, disciplined, less impulsive) and supposedly increases with age. I have noticed that as I've grown and matured a bit that seems to have increased indeed so it makes some sense.

I'm a strong introvert and find people quite exhausting. Fortunately my wife is the same way, as I know other introverts who are suffering in relationships with extroverts who don't understand them. We considered going out for coffee with some friends yesterday afternoon, but we were too tired and just went home and took a nap.

I thought for the longest time that I was an introvert, but it's become more and more clear to me I've actually been an extrovert this whole time and am just a very judgmental person.

This reminds me of my mom. Everyone is surprised to learn she is an extrovert because she is a massive misanthrope. The opposite also occurs where people will doubt that you are an introvert if you are friendly and cheerful. As it turns out benefiting from social activity and actually liking other people are two different things.

Ambivert

Have phases of both, depending on situation and circumstances.

Extrovert, but my days of being an introvert are soon ahead of me.

I definitely feel like an introvert but I am more so socially awkward, to the extent that there's a difference. I am shy around new people but if we find the right argument my natural loquaciousness takes hold of me.

Probably more often an introvert, but with the potential to thrive in certain social settings.

Introvert, arguably to an unhealthy extent but I do have psychological problems and I sometimes question to what extent certain "extrovert activities" are based more on peer pressure than actual enjoyment.

Introvert, though way closer to ambivert than I thought I was in school/pre-pandemic. I definitely mistaked how much I wanted to be alone was due to preferences vs shyness/awkwardness.

Ambivert for sure, who leans towards introvert.

I enjoy spending time with people, but then I absolutely need to go home at the end of the night to be by myself and recharge that social battery. Much to the chagrin of my 'Oh, just spend the night!' type friends. Tongue

If I'm out for too long w/o recharging I genuinely start to dissociate, which I assume may be an ADD symptom but who knows.

I voted ambivert overall, though I'm generally more introvert than extrovert.

Generally, I tend to be more quiet in larger groups of individuals I don't or barely know and/or when the conversation is about topics I consider trivial, boring or just not interesting. On the other hand, unlike many introverts, I have no issue with being in the spotlight and talking on a podium to bigger audiences. Indeed, presentations at work or in school were always one of my assets. I even enjoy this most of the time. I'm also not introvert in my preferred settings, especially smaller groups up to four of five people I'm familiar with and feel comfortable around. But like most introverts, I can best "recharge my energy" by spending time at home or in nature with just a small group of close family/friends. I also don't like most of the usual small talk stuff and only engage when I have to. When the conversation shifts deeper into topics like politics, history, geography, literature, the economy, movies, TV series, psychology or fashion, I'm definitely a lot more communicative.

Ambivert is a thing? I guess somewhere in between that and introvert.

The weird thing about me is that I am not afraid to speak publicly in front of a crowd. Supposedly that's the most common fear, and I have phobias of just about everything, except that.

And if I'm doing improv or my past as a theater kid/child actor-forget it! I would humiliate myself no problem. I guess as long as I'm not being myself.

Wow! That's pathetic...

Same except I love “my” people. Generally have always gotten along with 90%+ of people I work with, and tend to be a social glue when it comes to getting people to do things on the weekend. Extrovert for me.

I prefer introvert settings because its not fun having every seconds of my attention demanded but tbh I am usually stuck in extroverted settings and do well enough.

Yet another place where I differ from most of Atlas!  I'm very much an extrovert and love community.

Being an extrovert is an advantage if someone wants to become involved with politics.

I'm very much an introvert. I don't really enjoy going out in public and can sometimes go an entire day without talking to anyone.
