What would happen if they started denying accounts to gun store owners?

Porn is usually purchased online and guns usually aren't. This makes a massive difference in the potential of such a policy to discourage gun sales, as cash gun sales are much more feasible than cash porn sales.

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of banks and credit card companies already fall asleep after looking at some guns.

I think this is the way forward on gun regulation. It wouldn't prevent every mass shooting, obviously. But there are a lot of losers who would struggle to acquire deadly weapons on impulse if they had to pay cash.

It's a backdoor way of keeping guns out of the hands of people with poor executive functioning, and one that does not interfere directly with either the right to bear arms or equal protection.

GOP states would prohibit any governmental bodies including public employees unions from doing business with them.

If you're a law-abiding gun owner, you have nothing to worry about.

I question the premise.  I would assume most porn is purchased with a card and not cash and am going to need a cite to believe otherwise.

If you're a law-abiding gun owner, you have nothing to worry about.

Then if you're a law-abiding porn watcher, you have nothing to worry about by providing government ID to verify you are an adult.

20 or 30 years ago maybe this would be a valid question, but nowadays using a credit card for all sorts of things is such an ingrained behavior that no one thinks anything of it. It's "normal" to be several hundred dollars in debt at virtually all times. It may not be a good part of our culture but it certainly is part of it.

Do people actually pay for pornography? I'd bet a lot of money that greater than 99% of people who regularly watch internet porn have never spent one penny on it, lmao.

OnlyFans has 220 million registered users per Wikipedia. I'm guessing most of them are not there for the cooking channels.

What would likely happen in the least extreme scenario is that gun-friendly banks and credit card companies would open to counter this.

They're not really there for "porn" in any normal sense either. They're there for the same reason that livestream viewers watch and tip people who play video games on camera. It's a parasocial thing where people pretend to be friends with "influencers".

The ISO (which is the international body that sets standards across the financial services industry) has denied applications from New York- and California-based banks to create new merchant class codes for firearms and ammunition retailers.

And good for them!  Payment processors shouldn't kowtow to pressure from anti-gun politicians and activists bent on creating what would functionally be a registry of gun owners.
