Clarence Thomas of all justices actually wrote the decision. Alito and Gorsuch dissented.

Rulings from an illegitimate court, written by a publicly bribed judge, do not become legitimate just because we may like or agree with them. We need a Congress and President, acting in good faith, to dissolve the court and re-create it in legitimate form - whch seems impossible under present circumstances.

This decision is, at best, a nice detour on the road to hell.

Better hope Trump and the Republicans aren't the ones to do it using their own definitions of "good faith" and "legitimate".

Hell no, this case was crazy and if they ruled against the CFBP it would've been terrible for all departments of the government.

The case was just more Fifth Circuit garbage that SCOTUS was forced to clean up.

That's a nice thing to see.

Now, what about the damn immunity case? Just tell us already if you robed jackasses are going to punt the case back or not.

You can't disapprove of the Supreme Court if it ever does anything you approve of. This is known.

What would "legitimate form" look like? It wouldn't be a court compliant with or deferential at all times to the Democratic Party, would it? Because that doesn't sound very legitimate...It sounds corrupt.

It's really the lawlessness of the Fifth Circuit that makes the Supreme Court look sane in a decision like this. The attacks on the CFPB really remind me of the attempts to use the judiciary to overturn the ACA. Time and after time again, SCOTUS is having none of it. I'm more surprised that Thomas was the one authoring the decision that he did. Least surprising of all is Alito sticking up for the Fifth Circuit.

As bad as SCOTUS is right now, it could be so much worse. For those that don't believe it or wonder how bad, take note of what comes out of the Fifth Circuit.
