Resolution Amending the Position of Dean of the Senate

1. Article 2, Section 2, Clause 3 of the OSPR shall be amended to read as follows:
"In the event that the President of the Senate should be absent by reason of (a) exercising responsibility as Acting President of the Republic of Atlasia under the Constitution; (b) vacancy of the Vice Presidency; or (c) having failed to post in the Atlas Forum for a period of no less than 7 days, then the powers given by this Resolution to the President of the Senate shall instead be exercised by the Dean of the Senate."

2. Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3 of the OSPR shall be amended by the addition of the following to the existing clause:
"The Senate may, by a two-thirds majority vote on an ordinary resolution, pass the title, powers and responsibilities of the Dean of the Senate, to the next longest serving Senator (not having been removed from the position by the Senate previously), for any reason whatsoever."

Glad to see this come up before I leave this particular office.

I think it's all reasonably self-explanatory. The first part expands the list of conditions under which the Dean can act in place of the president of the Senate from simply that of his being Acting President. The second allows the removal of the Dean from office.

I considered a specific clause allowing the Dean to resign the position, but I'm undecided on that. If needs be he could probably get a Resolution passed using the newly proposed procedure.

Unless BrandonH resigns his seat before inaugeration day, he will be the next Dean of the Senate.

I have served since the 14th Senate. BRTD, Colin and Ernest all since the 16th. We are all leaving the Senate, next on the list in BrandonH who began his service in the 17th Senate. He swore in 7 hours before Ebowed, who also was elected to that Senate, so will be the next Dean.

What's more, BrandonH shall be immediately active as Dean. As usual the PPT's term will end at midday on inaugeration day and I shall be Acting President for the first day or so of the next term until Colin returns. With no PPT or President of the Senate in place, Brandon shall be responsible for overseeing Senate activity for that time which shall include the opening nominations for the next PPT.
