There aren't many blue avatars as it is except Redban whom always comment on polls but Trump lead has evaporated

Best thing about the TikTok part of the bill: the deadline is in 270 days so after the election. Joe played it great!

They get a 3 month extension too so it's really a year I think. Maria Cantwell wouldn't support it until the deadline was extended. Don't know if Biden had any behind the scenes involvement. He always said he would sign the other bill as soon as it hit his desk.

Because NK will never attack SK. And even if they did, NK is a nuclear power, and USA foreign policy since forever has been to not go to war with nuclear powers.
You don't know for sure that NK will never attack SK.

Should all have gone to Ukraine, they are the ones who need the money rather than Israel and Taiwan, but I still support it for the Ukraine part.

So when is Biden signing it?

$26 billion is an absurd amount of funds to hand off to Netanyahu's government.

Not to mention the asinine Tiktok ban, which has no place in a foreign aid bill.

It's only $10b in military assistance iirc. The rest is humanitarian aid for Gaza so good on paper at least (albeit probably ineffectual given Israel's stonewalling of humanitarian efforts).

Why should Taiwan be getting any aid? It’s not at war.

For this exact reason. That it stays out of war. Weakness only encourages aggressors and change their calculations. Xi is much more likely to launch an invasion if he and the CCP estimate that it's possible without paying a massive price.

Does anyone know why Rubio voted No? I thought he had been fairly hawkish on Ukraine, and also in general.

Why would they? What would they have to gain? Especially considering how they would be utterly destroyed.

Taiwan produces over 60% of the world's semiconductors and over 90% of the most advanced ones. Most are manufactured by a single company, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC).

Besides the whole, ya know, 'Imperialism bad' thing, allowing Chine to annex Taiwan and take over it's industries would be a national security and economic nightmare. I wish more people were aware of this.

It's the same R party that blocked Voting Rights, and the Border Bill. It's the Trump wing of the party because Cruz, Johnson and JD Vance all bored against funding

That's why I hope Cruz loses because we were unable to def VANCE in 22 with DeWine on the ballot

... You're asking what North Korea has to gain from absorbing the rest of the Korean peninsula?

They wouldn’t be able to do so, so why would they invade to begin with?

That makes sense. There are a lot of Ukranians and other Eastern European diaspora in the Cleveland area. One of my closest childhood friend's mother is Hungarian-American and from the Cleveland area.

The apparent consensus is that he was looking for an excuse, but his remarks for the record were about what an outrage it was for the House to be dictating the terms to the Senate.

People have no idea how bad things will get wrt tech prices if we let China have Taiwan.

Unsurprisingly idiotic reasoning, he says he supports aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan and forcing TikTok divestment but he still voted no because something something Biden isn't doing enough about the border.

Really getting sick of unrelated items being lumped together in the same legislation. Do better, Congress.

That said, obviously relieved that Ukraine is finally going to get US military aid again.
