OJ Simpson has died from cancer at age 76. This just came across the AP News Wire. I remember Simpson announcing NFL games. I am too young to remember him playing in the NFL. RIP Mr. Simpson.

I remember when he was found guilty for armed robbery in October 2008 and thinking, "well, black people are trading O.J. for Obama".

On a more serious note, I remember the jubilation when he was acquitted. I was in 7th grade shop class when the announcement came over the school's intercom system. The only 2 black girls in the class screamed with joy, which I didn't understand. Then, we were all let out from school early.

I'll have to watch that sometime. Rated highly in terms of comedic value, although I would have thought that his presence in the film would sully that somewhat. A bit like the 'Amarillo' music video in which Jimmy Saville makes an appearance.

I just found out on the Washington Post website.  While as far as my attitude to O.J. himself goes, my feeling is "Good riddance," my main feeling is shock.  I remember the trial vividly.  I remember my heart pounding before the verdict, and sitting among many people who cheered when they heard "not guilty."  Hearing this now, it's like part of my mental historical landscape has been removed--hence the feeling of shock.

He is, as we speak, standing before God as He asks the question 'So, did you kill Nicole Brown Simpson?  And remember whom you are speaking to before you answer the question.'

one fact worth noting, that's often forgotten in the Discourse, is that the Not Guilty verdict was genuinely the most reasonable call for the jury to make -- entirely because prosecutorial incompetence and blatant police misconduct introduced lots of reasonable doubt into what would have otherwise been a straightforward case.

At long last, he is successfully hunted down his wife's killer.
