https://www.wsj.com/politics/elections/no-labels-will-abandon-2024-presidential-campaign-effort-4b4e5121?mod=hp_lead_pos2

WASHINGTON—No Labels, the centrist group which has sought to field a third-party presidential bid, is abandoning efforts to create a “unity ticket” aiming to win the White House, according to people familiar with the plans.

Nancy Jacobson, No Labels’ founder and CEO, told allies this week that the group would announce Monday that it won’t pursue a presidential campaign this year because it hasn’t been able to recruit a credible ticket that could win the election, the people said.

That’s what happens when you run a campaign without a candidate.

They actually managed to get on more ballots than the green party… what a gigantic waste of money lmao

They know they can’t compete with RFK Jr for the non-Trump/Biden share. Kennedy is too strong this cycle. Next time No-Labels may fare better

2024 biggest fumble for third parties EVER

No Labels: didn't even make it to starting line

RFK Jr.: foot-in-mouth campaign, forced to pick Shanahan for funding

Cornel West: perpetual party-hopper, little visibility despite name recognition

Libertarians: in disarray

Greens: couldn't get RFK or Cornel, rerunning Jill Stein

Constitution: barely exists anymore

Solidarity: didn't even make it to Free & Equal debate

Ngl I’m disappointed you didn’t mention the fizzling of Kanye and the PSL headquarters burning down.

Even with me hating on the ASP, they are running an ok campaign for what it’s worth

I'm not bothering to count Kanye because he's incredibly MIA this cycle (even compared to 2020) so I would rate his "campaign" as even less serious than say Afroman's.

PSL seemed to be cohesive enough, I hadn't heard about a fire. I would imagine they would be getting blowback soon from trying to bandwagon on other peoples' anti-genocide, pro-ceasefire protests right now, though there hasn't been one crystalizing event from what I've heard.

I'm very disappointed on the ASP's relative silence on the situation in Gaza. They finally issued statements a few weeks ago, on Facebook but not on their vocal Twitter account. Being pro-peace is like a quarter to a third of their core platform. I understand that much of their support base is probably uneasy on being pro-Palestinian (more out of being small-c conservative educated religious fuddy-duddies than being pro-Israeli Evangelicals) in any way, but it's still galling to see in a time like this. Also them not getting on F&E's debate is not their fault, but it's also them losing the highest profile event they could have had this cycle.

I'm also very annoyed at Free and Equal for the botched handling of that debate. They had better hold another one in the summer- there are so many national conventions left! Between the "blockchain app" nonsense and their site touting Christina Tobin going on InfoWars, they feel a little washed up this cycle.

I mostly agree, this could've been a big third party, but RFK sucked all the oxygen and exploded.

That being said, I think the Greens will do decently, Stein is an OK candidate.

No Labels is a label in of itself, so they were undercutting themselves from the very beginning.

Periods of high partisanship actually aren't great for third parties.  With the two parties so politically different, most voters will find that they prefer one or the other.  What you need for a third party bid to be successful is either that the two parties are ideologically similar, at least on a key issue that a large block of voters care about, so that the third party can outflank them both (see Perot, and the Populist and Progressive Parties), or for an internal civil war within one of the parties to spill out into the GE (Bull Moose Party, the Dixiecrats, 1860).

No one serious want to play potential spoiler and possibly end up being the person that helped Trump win by a plurality. No Labels makes no sense anyway because you can't combine both parties into something that will please everyone. There are only two sides to a lot of issues.

Another example is George Wallace's signature line that there wasn't a "dime's worth of difference" between the two major parties.  It resonated with a lot of voters in 1968.
