Crime is out of control in Republican run states.

No, just in the parts of Republican (and Democratic) states that are Democrat-controlled. But you already knew that.

We need a total and complete shutdown of their borders until we know what the hell is going on!

This is a list that's prime for racism against African Am.

Though the simplest explanation is poverty leads to crime.

You realize whenever a city in a red state tries anything besides flooding the streets their state legislature squashes it like a bug

The kinds of crime committed in west coast cities is different.

We don't have murders, rapes, arson, etc.

what we have instead is a LOT of property crime, theft, harassment and assault, at way higher rates than the violent crimes committed in the cities on this list.

To be fair, the vast majority of cities are controlled by democrats these days and this is just a list of cities. On any ranking of cities for a metric like crime, it's likely most cities at the top, bottom, and middle of the list will be D-leaning.

My favorite was during the spike in 2021 the suburban Republican boomer said if Milwaukee couldn’t get the “crime problem” under control the state Republicans would need to stop funding the MPD.

This is only looking at US cities though which are nearly all Democrat, if you look at parts of the country with high murder per capita rates many heavy Republican counties stand out in rurals.

If you compare rates of property crime vs violent crime of U.S. cities, there are some regional differences:

The top 10 for property crime, in 2022, were:  Albuquerque, NM; Vancouver, WA; Memphis, TN; San Francisco, CA; St. Louis, MO; Oakland, CA; Portland, OR; Baton Rouge, LA; Wichita, KS; and Tulsa, OK.

Top 10 for violent crimes that year: St. Louis, MO; Detroit, MI; Baltimore, MD; Memphis, TN; Kansas City, MO; Milwaukee, WI; Cleveland, OH; Stockton, CA; Albuquerque, NM; and Indianapolis, IN.

The West has a lot more property crime, while cities in the South/East leads in violent crime.  Of course, it's already been pointed out that most of those cities on the violent crime list have significant Black populations.

1. Isn’t Anchorage really bad for violent crime?

2. Doesn’t NOLA have the highest homicide rate in the country? Higher than countries like Honduras and Venezuela?

2. Doesn’t NOLA have the highest homicide rate in the country? Higher than countries like Honduras and Venezuela?

New Orleans had the highest murder rate in the country for 2021 and 2022, but the 2023 murder rate fell to 53.9 per 100,000 putting it behind Jackson, MS; Birmingham, AL; Memphis; and Louisville, KY.

At 53.9 per 100,000, New Orleans' homicide rate is higher than any individual country in the world.  Honduras had a 2022 rate of 35.1 per 100,000 while the most murderous country (Jamaica) comes in slightly under at 53.3.

Honduras and Jamaica have travel advisory level 3 by the USA, telling Americans to “reconsider travel” to either of those places. Should the same warning exist by other countries for those cities in the USA?
