Who will be the average AZ voter who votes Biden while voting for Lake in the senate race?

An idiot who wants a check on Biden in the Senate.

Someone who has personal reasons to dislike Trump and/or Gallego.

They essentially don’t exist.

But if we’re going to entertain this exercise, I think there were a handful of precincts where Biden outperformed Kelly in 2020, and from what I remember, they were in wealthy historically GOP parts of Phoenix’s surrounding areas. So I’m guessing someone who hates Trump, is basically voting D at the federal level for the first time (or one of the first times in their life), and can only live with the Biden vote by voting for a check on him in the Senate/House. There seemed to be a few people who did this in 2020.

So I’d say they’re a possible Biden/Lake/Schweikert voter. However, Lake is so revolting to this crowd - whoever is so repulsed by Trump is no fan of Lake - that I almost think it’s as likely you’d see Biden/undervote or Gallego/Schweikert ballot among this type of voter. McSally at least was a fairly mainstream R masquerading as a Trumper.

The majority of these moderate McCainites, though, are now full-fledged Ds at the federal level who reflexively vote Democrat and will entertain the occasional R not aligned at the hip with Trump.

A McCain fan that thinks Gallego is too much of a progressive.

Funny, but in reality they seem on pretty good terms; they’ve gone out of their way to endorse eachother in the past and have been willing to do other things to support eachothers campaigns

Lost their job during COVID, which they blamed on Trump, and later perceived that job as being "taken" by Mexicans, creating a xenophobia specifically tailored toward Mexican/Hispanic Americans.

Hence they'd resent both Trump and Gallego, and vote for their respective opponents.
