That would be likely. On the other hand, the rules could be swiftly changed to disallow vacating the chair. At that point, we'd have a legit constitutional crisis on our hands: a Speaker without a Majority. I think Democrats would likely back down. Perhaps it would be enough time to get a reconciliation bill passed though.
