All of these problems can be solved by using parentheses where you’re supposed to. Also not using the obelus for division. I don’t think I’ve seen it written like that since elementary school.

While the other task is just a matter of poor notion, this one is actually very unmistakable and unambiguous, as you just have to follow the PEMDAS rules in order to solve it.

These Instagram questions are just using intentionally vague writing to make that unclear to create such a debate when there's plenty of easy ways to write out these formulas to remove the ambiguity. It's basically a mathematical equivalent of this:

How would someone get 0? Unless they think a^0 is just 0?

Anyway, stacked exponents sometimes come up in number theory, dealing with very large numbers, and sometimes in physics, since we think the universe (probably) will last literally forever you can talk about what will be happening in 10^(10^100) years, for example.

You see stacked exponents fairly often in some areas. Normal/Gaussian distributions of the form e^-x^2 are common.
