how are they avoiding "false advertising" lawsuits?
It seems there is some confusion in terms. Junk fees, as were defined up until yesterday for some odd reason, were defined as hidden fees dropped on people unexpectedly, usually at the time of purchase. So like, the sign outside the hotel in flashing lights says "$49.99/night!!!!1" but when you go check in and they say that'll be $97.52 and you're like "why" and they show you all the "$4.50 fee for room cleaning, $9.99 service charge for using a credit card, $9 local wheel tax, $15 hotel tax and $6 in sales tax" fees and what are you going to do now, leave and find another hotel that will probably do the same thing? nah, you're going to eat, grumble a bit, it ain't the lady behind the counters fault.
That sh**t is wrong, and you should be warned ahead of time, especially if it's adding >10% to the price.
Credit card late fees are not that at all and I'm pretty sure the fees are clearly spelled out in the mountain of literature you get when you get a new credit card. Like in bold, maybe more than once.
