Only really knowable in hindsight, like how it appeared Trump was losing before Covid but he actually wasn't. At this stage, everything is possible.

Why do you say this?  I suppose I’m of a rather unpopular opinion that covid didn’t really hurt Trump.

Simple:

1. Biden can win without a Trump conviction (but it will be tight)
2. Trump cannot win with a conviction (while the MAGA crowd will be energized by the conviction, he would lose any hope of independents and moderate Republicans turning out for him)
