The quickest way to lose friends in Germany is to say you're an FDP sympathizer.  Yes.  I've been on both sides of the Rhein.

Meet a Kraut bitch who only dated black GIs, who you would think would be left-leaning, but come to find out they are hardcore CDU.

Race is complicated that way.

SPD. He may be a concern troll, but he was usually a Democratic voter still. I suspect the same would be true in other countries with their equivalent center-left parties.

BSW, as they're left-wing and anti-immigration

Pretty much this. He'd assiosate himself with the moderate SPD wing. Under SPD leadership, the Interior Minsitry actually expanded the federal police force and issued numerous border security measures.

AfD would be way too extreme for bronz. Especially some of their associates planning a coup and supporting deportations of legal immigrants.

The FPO (Austria) is bad too. Not Germany but still a good way to lose friends.

Going to Mainz clubs/pubs (populated by left-wing uni students).  FDP = you're a fascist.

Wiesbaden = a city with CDU banners literally all over WilhelmStraße:  FDP = you're probably just a communist weirdo.

Of course, the lesson to be learned from all this is that if you're an American citizen residing abroad with no stake in local elections, you should probably just keep your drunken, uniformed opinions to yourself.  Cheesy
