He just is. I've voted FF before, and abstained too. but he's annoying sometimes and'll likely be FF again.

So I guess HP for a change.

Nah. You more normal, less predictable and less hilarious.
I suppose you will be an Alben type of poster in the future.

There are almost three dozen "Opinion of BRTD" threads now. Couple of gems from the most recent batch:

BRTD is not a good poster, nor is he a bad poster. He simply posts. A lot.

Voted FF.

Like the United States itself, he is large and contains multitudes, indeed.
Easy FF

I will say that you don't truly understand BRTD until you've experienced him irl

Meeting him in person completely recontextualized everything I thought I knew about the guy. Like on one hand he's exactly what you would expect because his forum posts are unfiltered, perfect transcripts of his casual speech. The way he talks is identical to the way he writes. On the other hand, though, recognizing this similarity makes it clear just how much of BRTD is "lost in translation", so to speak, all the nuance and subtext to his spoken voice that doesn't survive the text barrier.

He is physically imposing - very tall, broad shoulders, deep voice, built like a bouncer - but his personality is so unthreatening you might not even notice. He is profoundly charismatic and speaks with such an earnest passion you can't help but listen to whatever he has to say. He also has a sense of humor I don't think most people really pick up on.

Even though I met him more than eight years ago I still hear his voice narrating his posts when I read them and you'd be surprised how often it transforms the context!

I disagree with him on several prominent issues - more now than in years past, probably, but I don't respect him any less. His tendency to develop fixations can be endearing and people shouldn't take them so seriously. That said I will acknowledge when BRTD has a fixation on another forum person he sometimes takes it too far and reaches territory one could not unfairly categorize as "bullying". So if there's any constructive feedback BRTD might pick up ITT, it's this: let people move on from their past mistakes, everyone is wrong sometimes, you shouldn't define people by their worst moments.

Regardless though he is a cool dude and this place wouldn't be the same without him

For maybe the first time ever, I've voted FF on one of these polls. I have long felt looked down on by him and, not gonna lie, had my feelings hurt by him quite a few times. But as I've gotten older, I've come to really appreciate his eccentricities and the fact that he genuinely has a deep appreciation for the music he likes. He could be kinder or less abrasive towards some of the posters here, but this place would not be the same without him.

I'm asking because this is the most recent election where I would vote for the Republican, which ironically was also a Democratic landslide. Goldwater wasn't really all that bad compared to Republicans of today, and despite the Civil Rights Act and Great Society I could NEVER vote for LBJ.

I think that BRTD is the most overrated atlasian. I usually don't agree with many atlasians as to who is and who is not a freedom fighter, however.

People who don't like him, seem very shy about it. I have not made my opinion of him a secret. I'm sure that he doesn't care what I think of him, anyway.

Atlas Forum should've changed its name to Talk BRTD or Talk Emo, with all the elections talk consolidated to a few boards and the rest of the forum used for BRTD's obsessions. (minus feet)

He's a pretty weird guy, but his weirdness is ultimately harmless. When he talks about politics, he's almost always on the right side of the issue, and typically makes intelligent arguments. FF.
