After the successful retaking of his seat yesterday, what would have happened if Suozzi ran for re-election in NY-3 versus Santos in 2022, instead of running for Governor? Would he have been swept up in the red wave? Or would he have been re-elected in his rematch from 2020?

It would have been exceptionally close, but I think he would have lost.

He would have narrowly held off Santos.

It mostly depends on how well he would have campaigned back then. If Santos' skeletons had been more widely publicized during the campaign season (and the information was already out there, it just wasn't highlighted on the campaign trail in 2022), his Democratic opponent could very well have won.

Most likely, yup.

He and Charlie Crist should have run for reelection instead of entering 2 gubernatorial contests they never had a chance in to begin with. One was DOA in the primary, the other was DOA for November. And that was plain visible many months ahead.

Yes but it would have been close.
