This is another interesting one and I know a few like Orange County, California; Maricopa County, Arizona; and Johnson County, Kansas are some.  I believe actually were a fair number but mostly predominately African-American counties in Deep South as that was before voting rights act implemented so many such counties in Deep South had largely a white electorate despite being predominately African-American whereas nowadays that is not case.  Outside Deep South, be curious how many there were.

Carroll's the only one here that surprises me aside from Teton. I always assumed it was a fairly moderate county and as such assumed it would've voted comfortably for Johnson.

Northwestern Illinois (plus the Chicago suburbs) were probably the most ancestrally Republican region in the US, due to being settled by Free Soiler Yankees.

I know, which is why those didn't surprise me. Carroll, otoh, is in New England, which was ancestrally Republican, but which, much unlike Collar Counties, voted solidly for Johnson in 1964 (admittedly NH less so than surrounding states).
