It's a high-income, highly-educated suburb filled with lawyers, executives and the like but still much more Republican than the demographic profile than one would expect.  Looks very Catholic, with an Irish plurality and seems to have very few Jews.  I'm guessing that a lot of it is self-selection: NYC region is big enough to have a suburb for rich conservative-minded Catholics.

Yeah, definitely a combination of religion and self-sorting. I would add in 2020 it swung decently left as one would've expected given the demographics, but then in 2022... well.

Even Bronxville, which seems rather demographically similar, votes Democratic now and has since 2008.  Though I'm guessing Bronxville is more WASP-Catholic split and Garden City is overwhelmingly Catholic.  Plus Westchester is just more liberal than Long Island.

Yeah, Bronxville is the most elite WASPy town in New York state, very similar to Darien or New Canaan in Connecticut. Like Darien (and the similarly white and wealthy Lake Forest, IL), it had informal property covenants prohibiting black and Jewish home ownership into the late 20th century.
