This motion is obviously in response to my disapproval of Porce, this bill legalizes drugs and ends the war on drugs, but it makes public use a crime.

Hah, that's a laugh.  Firstly this bill criminalizes growing your own drugs, which is more restrictive than current policy.  You do know that marijuana is already legalized, right?  You also seem to have a warped idea of what "public use" means.  Would you apply anti-segregation policies to government areas only?  Well, you probably would, but that's beside the point.

There is no end to the war on drugs here.  It only says you can smoke what's already legal, unless you do it on government property.  What exactly do you have against an intern working with the Department of Agriculture having a cigarette during his break, in a designated area?

Interestingly, you would also ban smoking cigars in the White House.

Now, I'm curious how ending the war on drugs means a.) legalizing date-rape drugs and b.) not releasing people incarcerated for drug use already.

I add an amendment to Sec 2 to called Sec 2.4 that states:

All people currently in jail on drug related charges shall be released within three (3) months of passage

What about people who are in jail on both drug related charges and other charges you may want to continue having kept illegal?

Anyway, there's no use amending this bill, it's completely hopeless.

Yes, you, Rob, and BRTD can vote against it and throw your hissy fits.  I'm not someone you can bully into dropping a bill because you don't like it andk know it will pass.

Actually, I doubt a bill to legalize roofies (in private only, of course) will get anywhere.

This bill will never have my vote, for it is a danger to society to legalize most drugs. I stand with the President Pro Tempore on this piece of legislation.

Ok, then would anyone like to offer up an amendment or should this be withdrawn?

There is no way I would be supporting this. It is badly written and incoherent to begin with. It obviously shows that the author does not have a working knowledge of current Atlasian drug laws and if what I believe it to mean is correct its really quite regulatory and would add even more power for the federal government to interfere in people's lives. The amendment, also, is badly worded and poorly designed.

I would second the motion to table and would vote for tabling this bill. I would kindly suggest that Senator DWDL withdraws this bill forthwith.

DWTL, you're starting to waste a little too much bandwidth, pipe down or resign.

I will, as always, continue to do what is best for Atlasia, if my bills are not approved of I could always do the Porce method and let them waste time for a while and then get voted down.  However, I am not here for my own personal gain but to keep the game fun for everyone.

What are you on about, DWDL?  First of all, the Cambodian Free Trade Bill was promptly withdrawn when it was shown to be unnecessary.  I don't have any intention of purposely wasting the Senate's time just to have a bill be voted down.  That's why I seconded the motion to table this bill before you withdrew it.

Is that a resignation? Smiley
