Resolution for Peace

Whereas, there is a consensus that the republic of Atlasia should contribute to the international efforts to resolve the conflict;

Whereas, recognizing the interconnected nature of global conflicts and the importance of addressing multiple issues simultaneously for a comprehensive approach to peace and stability;

Be it resolved by the Atlassian Senate:

1. Our country shall intensify diplomatic efforts to defuse the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The republic of Atlasia will actively engage in promoting dialogue and encouraging both parties to work towards a peaceful resolution.

2. The republic of Atlasia will leverage its position to advocate for a ceasefire in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Efforts will be made to facilitate negotiations and create an environment conducive to a lasting peace in the region.

3. the republic of Atlasia commits to pushing for the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid supplies into Gaza. The Atlasian Senate encourages the provision of essential resources to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population affected by the conflict.

4. The republic of Atlasia will support the ruling of the International Court of Justice in South Africa's genocide charges against Israel. The Atlasian Senate acknowledges the importance of upholding international law and promoting accountability in addressing allegations of genocide.

This resolution is enacted in the pursuit of global peace, stability, and the promotion of human rights. The Atlassian Senate calls upon the international community to support these efforts for a just and lasting resolution to the conflicts in the region.

objecting. The GM team has indicated numerous times that the israel palestine conflict in Atlasia's TL is different from IRL. Some things like the ICJ genocide claim may not even be a thing. I can not say with complete authority as I am not the GM team alone, but either way we need to have some actual discussion here.

I don't understand what Laki is talking about. We haven't had any news from Israel or Gaza since October.

considering the fact that the situation is not like how it is IRL, and as such this doesn't really do anything because there is no conflict to create a ceasefire for, nor a case in the ICJ to join, nor aid to unblock, I motion to table.

Yeah, but i don't understand why you are ignoring it in the GM updates?

I automatically assume if the GM team doesn't cover it, events happen like IRL.

SPECIAL ISRAEL-PALESTINE UPDATE

HAMAS SENDS “50TH ANNIVERSARY GIFT TO ZIONIST COLONIZERS”: 3000 MISSILES

October 6, 2023

By Weatherboy

Tel Aviv, Israel - The 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur war was not expected to be a quiet one for many Israelis, and fears were proven correct when air raid sirens sounded around 6:30 am local time. Approximately 3000 missiles were launched from Gaza into locations around Israel, with many being shot down. However, many cities still were struck by one or more missiles, including Tel Aviv, Ashkelon, and Gedera. At least half a dozen Israelis were killed in the attack, but according to many it could have been far worse.

Prime Minister Benny Gantz gave a speech minutes after the launches were detected, threatening direct action into Gaza should Hamas make any more moves, and it appears that either the threat worked, or there was no further action planned. Either way, the missile attack complicates the efforts for Atlasian brokered peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, despite the Authority making a public statement that Hamas “does not represent the Palestinian people in any way, shape, or form” and stressed the importance of “coming to a peaceful solution for all parties to prevent more instances of violence like this”.

Public demonstrations both in support of Israel and Palestine have occurred worldwide. Meanwhile a small uptick in violence against Jewish and Muslim civilians in other nations has been reported, including one unfortunate case in Atlasia, where a Chicago landlord stabbed a Palestinian tenant and her 6-year old son, killing the boy and seriously injuring the mother. He has been arrested and faces a first-degree murder charge.

The Atlasian response has been difficult to gauge, in part due to delayed news to the State Department, thanks to Israel’s decision to expel the Atlasian ambassador in September of last year.

Update was approved 2-0-1

perhaps the wording could be better but it's pretty clearly stated there was no direct invasion of Gaza, in part because 10/7 ended up just being missile strikes, no paratroopers or other stuff.

I can feel our illustrious predecessors spinning in their graves – they didn't come up with a rich international scene of Paflagonias and North Koreas and ANUSes just to see people spit on their legacies like this.

Events don't happen in a vacuum either IRL or in this game, and the GM coverage we do reflects that. In particular, no events happen "like IRL" because this is a game centered on Atlasia, which has had years of radically distinctive foreign policy, and not imaginary countries like the "United States."

I propose the following amendment, to keep the text in-line with canon events.

Quote
Resolution for Peace

Whereas, there is a consensus that the republic of Atlasia should contribute to the international efforts to resolve the conflict;

Whereas, recognizing the interconnected nature of global conflicts and the importance of addressing multiple issues simultaneously for a comprehensive approach to peace and stability;
