Ulster and Columbia Counties, New York

Both are quite rural yet unlike many other rural upstate counties, Biden was able to maintain Obama numbers in both?  Do both have many New York city transplants?  Or is there another reason for this.  I know Ulster county has Woodstock which is super liberal, but small part of county so it alone would have minimal impact on county swing so reason rest of county still Democrat?

One of the two largest population centers in Ulster County is New Paltz, a college town. Aside from that, tourism is a major industry in both counties, and I believe it's of the sort that appeals to the same type of people who are drawn to ski resort towns.

So sort of like Leelanau County, Michigan and Door County, Wisconsin which voted for Biden unlike most other rural counties in the state.

The affluent and artsy Woodstock is also in Ulster County.
