1968 Kennedy never shot and wins nomination.  Who is his VP?

How about Ralph Yarborough? He would seem to check all the boxes as a Southerner, pro civil rights, and anti war.

LBJ is technically eligible, but I can't imagine he'd be too interested in serving as a backup for Bobby. Probably Sanford, Al Gore Sr, or Ralph Yarborough though.

The alternate history novel A Disturbance of Fate, in which RFK survives the assassination attempt and is nominated and elected, had Ralph Yarborough as his vice president:

I wonder if George McGovern would also be a possibility (basing on McGovern endorsing RFK and running as effectively a stand-in after RFK was assassinated).

He doesn't really add anything to Bobby's base though...I could definitely see him playing a role in an RFK cabinet though

Sure, he's from the Midwest, but he doesn't appeal to Southerners, conservatives or moderates, and he would be seen as a radical.

I guess anything's possible; but I wonder if RFK and McCarthy would have been able to patch things up after the primaries (with McCarthy only entering the Presidential race after RFK and also McGovern declined to run in 1968; only for RFK to jump in after McCarthy's strong showing in New Hampshire).

A Yarbrough selection would have been a good way to annoy LBJ.
