Seba Stephens is only 10 years old, but he’s a very talented musician. He plays drums, bass, guitar, and piano. Recently, he earned a professional certificate in music through the Berklee Online program at the famous Berklee College of Music.

Is the word the here missing?

"The" is optional when used with musical instruments and can depend on the context. "He plays the trumpet," and "He plays trumpet," are both acceptable. When "the" is omitted, it specifically means that the person can play that particular type of instrument. When "the" is included it could mean the person can play that type of instrument, but might mean that the person is playing a specific instrument of that type.
