Less than two months since the last election, the three parties in the Quebec Assemblee National (which pretty evenly divide the seats) cannot agree on the budget. The PQ said that if the Liberals do not kill their tax cut plan, they will vote against the budget, saying the cash should be spent on health care and education. And the ADQ has also criticized it. The budget is up for vote June 1, which could bring an election on July 9. It's also a potential negative for the federal Tories, who proved their equalization plan cannot keep them quiet. But that's just speculation for now.

Interesting. When is the PQ leadership election, or is Pauline Marois simply being proclaimed leader? I can't imagine the PQ forcing an election without a leader.

I just heard about this yesterday. It's absolutely idiotic of Jean Charest to piss off the other parties. He should know another election will result in an ADQ government. However, I can't see the PQ forcing an election, because they lack a leader now. Unless they can coronate Marois before then.

Already?

Actually, I'd be happy to be rid of Charest.

Well, a long-term bump. Pauline Marois seems to be enjoying a bit of a stint of popularity as a new leader -- the PQ leads!

CROP (26 August)
PQ: 33
ADQ: 29
PLQ: 27
PVQ: 6
QS: 4

There have again been rumblings of problems within the National Assembly, but in a parliament divided evenly three ways, this should be expected.

It was a three way race last time, but Marois is pretty popular, so she'll probably win. Also, not Liberal will be running.
