Putin deciding to embark on a genocidal war of conquest in my continent definitely annoyed me a bit.

January 6th, and the subsequent attempts by conservative to justify, whitewash, and gaslight us about what happened.

Rise of Reform Party in 1993.  It really made our politics more divisive and toxic and also normalized more ideological dogmatic right wing policies rather than pragmatic, compromise type we were used to.

The rise of right-wing populism and anti-intellectualism in general.

Wouldn't you say a lot of this is to blame on academia too. Like seeing the reaction of much of academia to 10/7 shows you how much academia has gone all in on the majority= oppressor and minority= oppressed belief . Also the emphasis on how the police is racist and having borders is racist along with standardized tests being racist all directly came from academia and the policy proposals that were implemented from that belief all were disastrous.

Add in the numerous lies during COVID on how the hid the lab leak stuff and it should be no surprise that Academia is no longer trusted.

The re-election of George W. Bush in 2004 is still incomprehensible to me

Covid is much more of a complicated issue, especially since new information and studies came out frequently. For example when Fauci early said masks are useless, it was based on the bare information available at that very early stage.

The formation of the Liberal and NDP confidence and supply agreement in early 2022. I'm generally against the modern-day NDP holding any meaningful political power in Canadian politics and given the state of Canada now it is probably one of the most disastrous political arrangements in Canadian history.

When Democrats failed to get a sufficient Senate majority in 2020 to make any reforms to the fillibuster or pass any legislation without Manchin and Sinema, likely dooming the Democratic agenda until 2037.

The SCOTUS decision in Lawrence v. Texas.

When I was young, I wanted a decision like that, but that was before I started learning how to properly interpret the Constitution.

Romer v. Evans is a very close second.
