Here's the NYT page about it. As of the time I post this, six people are confirmed dead, tens of thousands of homes are without power, and there is a tsunami warning in effect. I'll keep Japan in my thoughts.

And thankfully no tsunami.

I still remember the Day-After-Christmas 2004 tsunami... especially with earthquakes that get tsunami warnings this time of year.

7.6 is fairly strong by standards of Japanese earthquakes. Thankfully the death toll is mild.
