Freedom From Conspiracies Act

SENATE BILL

To direct funds for anti-trafficking efforts and retract commendation of conspiratorial media

Be it enacted,

Section I: Reform

1. SB 117-17 Sound of Freedom Act shall be amended as follows:

1. An additional $50 Billion is hereby appropriated over the next five (5) years to fund increased human trafficking investigations, operations, rescues, and prosecutions. Priority shall be given to child trafficking.
a. The above funds shall only be disbursed to federal agencies responsible for investigating human trafficking and supporting victims, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.

2. Former federal officer Tim Ballard is hereby awarded the Senate Gold Medal for his efforts in rescuing trafficked children and fighting Satanic evil.

3. The film "The Sound Of Freedom" (2023), distributed by Angel Studios is hereby declared to exhibit artistic excellence, cultural diversity, and original storytelling and is hereby classified as an independent film for purposes of the Fostering Atlasian Cinema Act (SB 116-24). Accordingly, the Independent Film Promotion Office shall coordinate with Angel Studios to assist in promoting The Sound Of Freedom and shall offer grant funding to Angel Studios from the Independent Film Development Fund to assist with future projects.

4. 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

The articles you posted only reference Jim Caviezel and comments he's made, not anything about the movie itself. If you're going to spew a false talking point, at least read the articles you post first. Google will even translate it for you if the language barrier is an issue.

In fact, your first article even says this:

Executives at Angel Studios, the film's distributor, have publicly rejected any association with conspiracies. So have Tim Ballard, the former federal agent Caviezel plays in the movie, and his organization, Operation Underground Railroad. (Angel Studios declined NPR's interview request. Operation Underground Railroad did not respond to NPR's questions.)

First, Sound of Freedom is a subpar action-thriller that mostly serves to engineer an image of Tim Ballard as some sort of angelic, larger-than-life hero. It does nothing to give a realistic depiction of anti-human trafficking. A filmmaker with an apparent inability to research the topics of his films chose to canonize Ballard, irresponsibly hired a loony-toon Q-Anon guy as the lead, and sold the rights to right-wing grifters who made bank marketing the movie as some twisted culture war wedge issue. It has no right being associated with the Fostering Atlasian Cinema Act, and the studios involved should absolutely not be subsidized by this, or any, country.

Next, Tim Ballard is a horrible person who deserves nothing but condemnation by this Congress. Ballard has been accused of six instances of violent sexual assault, which led to his prompt dismissal from OUR (the group he founded). His insane and counterproductive trafficking tactics notwithstanding, this should be more than sufficient to warrant the immediate rescinding of his award.

The remainder of this bill ensures that only federal agencies are disbursed the funds appropriated to combat child sex trafficking, otherwise it may end up in the hands of another assaulter like Tim Ballard.
