Probably a French leftist or a New Left type who thinks she was some sort of feminist martyr.

lots of people, they're both revolutionary icons of their own era with wide admiration even outside of their specific political sphere

Eh, maybe I'm just stuck in some sort of right wing bubble, but I think that Che Guevara would be too controversial to have a 90% approval rating.

No? Most people at least here in America certainly do not admire Che. Let alone 90%. You can barely get 90% to agree that the sky is blue.

MB's answer is correct though.

Don't forget a lot of naive young people.

I don't get the hype with Che. He was maybe cool, but in the way of the characters of the 1969 classic 'Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid'. Well, not even that.

Most people just view him as the generic rebel.

Most would be positive, but there's definitely enough non-positive opinion floating around to deny him a 90% rating...

Do most people even know who he was?

I'd bet that less than 50% of Americans would claim to know who he was and a lot of that half would be confusing him with Simon Bolivar or Caesar Chavez.  Of the 18% of Americans who actually know who he is, I'd bet most of them think he's an HP....but perhaps I give too much credit to Americans, we do love our homophobic murderers after all.
