How would the adult characters have voted in these elections? 2010, 2014, and 2018 are allowed in this discussion as midterms.

Affluent parents in suburban Los Angeles, whether they're nuclear, blended, or same-sex couples, are a lock for Democrats by then. Beyond that, they would all be lifetime Democrats- Claire is a wino soccer mom girlboss (maybe she was a "security mom" for Bush in 2004 but I doubt it), Phil was a male cheerleader in college, Mitch is a gay Ivy League grad, Cam is a camp gay who was a public school teacher and came of age as a farmboy in Missouri during the Farm Crisis, Jay's favorite president was Kennedy (doesn't talk about Vietnam at all either, which tells me he wouldn't have been onboard for Iraq), and Gloria was apparently deported twice.
