So GOP's majority will be down to 3 votes.

I just hope Newsom doesn’t play games like he did with CA-50 in 2020.

Yes, very valid Point.

Kevin probably is doing the right thing here leaving a sinking ship.

It would be hilarious if the GOP lost their majority through expulsions and resignations

Newsom should hold the seat open as long as possible like DeSantis does with Dem seats.

and so goes the last of the so called "Young Guns". Good riddance. The less McCarthies and more Herns, Johnsons, Gaetzes, and Gosars in Congress, the better. (and yes, if having better Republicans in our districts that don't hate the base and actually represents our views, like with the dems, leads to us losing our majority for a cycle, then I'd prefer that. Better to lose and use that opportunity to clean up the filth like with Pelosi did with cutting out all the DINOs in 2010 than to win and let the infected wound fester).

Sure. At this point, half the damn country is a crazy person; might as well have the party act like it.

Crazy to you, sane to me. Crazy to me is no limits on abortion at all, even up to the third trimester. Crazy to me is allowing kids to get hormone therapy without the knowledge of their parents. Crazy to me is showing kids pornographic materials in schools under the guise of sex ed. Crazy to me is allowing unfettered immigration at our southern border without using the military to actually defend the border, which militaries have done for centuries before the present. Crazy to me is sending billions of $ overseas that could be spent here on American infrastructure and fixing the crises we have right now. Crazy to me is going whole hog on the false idea of renewables that are more harmful to the environment than Nuclear, which is just boiling water.

So yeah, call me nuts for thinking any one of these things are absolutely insane.

EDIT : And before you ask, no I genuinely don't care what happens with LGBT citizens even if my own uncle is one. I don't personally agree with their way of life and don't agree with the term marriage (I'm of the opinion they should use the term "Civil Unions" but those Civil Unions be granted all the rights of marriage so we don't redefine words, but no Surrogacy (I'm completely fine with adoption)).

What does this bring them down to, a two seat majority? Bill Johnson is leaving soon too. We’re basically a heartbeat away from Speaker Jeffries.

What's funny about that is that in literally eight years, all three of them were gone for different reasons

Cantor - 2014, Primaried, was the House Majority Leader
Ryan - 2018, Retired, only one to become Speaker for a full term
McCarthy- 2023 (technically 2024), resigned, stopped from being Speaker in 2015 then became House Majority then House Minority Leader, became shortest Speaker in history.

I will say this, it will be a dangerous move for Jefferies to do if he successfully vacates the Speakership but because the retirements are mostly happening from Safe Republican Seats, when the new Republicans come in, they'll have a majority, however slim, again. Its better for him to wait it out and win the Speakership through the 2024 election then deal with the struggle of being the Speaker with your party in the minority (when was the last time this happened?)

i get that this is bait but you do realize that none of these things are happening right (except perhaps technically the foreign aid one). nuclear energy is literally in the democratic party platform. most of the "sane" people you support voted against the infrastructure bill and many before it, so i don't think you actually care about infrastructure. the other stuff is all right-wing boomer facebook nonsense.

I just hope Newsom doesn’t play games like he did with CA-50 in 2020.

Given the timing, he legally has to have the special primary coincide with the regular March stuff I believe.  Which means the main special can't be long after.

There’s nothing House Republicans love more than ousting their Speakers and driving them out of office.

So GOP's majority will be down to 3 votes.

Isn't it 3 right now without Santos? Wouldn't it be down to 2?
