IRON BOWL: Nick Saban (D) vs. Tommy Tuberville (R) for AL-SEN 2026

Suppose Saban runs as a Blue Dog Democrat like his good friend Joe Manchin (who he has repeatedly endorsed, and actually tried to push to the left by lobbying him to support the Freedom to Vote Act).

He'd at least make it close-ish considering his status, but I think he'd have a better shot as a McMullin type, Independent but the Dems don't run anyone.

Main issue is he'd be 75 at the time of the election.

I think it being a mid-term and thus not having presidential turnout, as well as it being literally Nick Saban, would give him a chance, but the Republican campaign machine is formidable and I think would win out in the end. My hot take is Saban would win if he ran as an independent though.
