Someone who voted for Joseph McCarthy for US Senate in 1952, and for Eugene McCarthy in the 1968 Democratic primary.

Probably an isolationist Catholic who opposed both communism and the Vietnam war.

An liberal african american who voted republican no matter who until 1964.
Also, a moderate isolationist that feared more communist at home than communíst abroad and trought the other candidates would go too far left on economics to unite the party.

Somebody named McCarthy who thought it was cool to be able to vote for someone who shared their last name.

An anti-communist who decided after the Sino-Russian split that China was the greater threat and therefore the Vietnam war was counterproductive.

A member of the anti-communist Association of Catholic Trade Unionists, or maybe one of the right-wing internal oppositionists they supported within the United Electrical, Radio, and Machine Workers of America, who went on to oppose the Vietnam War. Probably from Green Bay.
