This is what happens when you stop teaching history.

Kevin McCarthy graduated from College.

And has a masters degree.

This is actually the vast majority of college educated people. They’re not woke and liberal.

They go to middle tier public universities where the liberal arts are…. Poor.

Not weird if you believe in Manifest Destiny (the belief that God gave the United States the right to own North America)

What’s crazy weird is that a few years ago, even conservatives acknowledged that land was wrongfully taken by Mexico

Even if we're being as generous as possible to McCarthy and are considering the Mexican Cessation to have been "purchased", what about Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam and the Marianas?

Honestly outside of the Mexican-American War (which yes makes this hilarious coming from a guy from California) and Spanish-American War, it's mostly a true claim, surprisingly enough.

Of course, it wasn't always for a lack of trying. If we had decisively won the War of 1812, Canada might be part of the 60 states today...

No amount of weak drawing of borders will erase Native American sovereignty.

Also we did gain territory in the 1812 war against the Tecumseh Federation

Hawaii too...

I think Florida was also the aftermath of some war or some kind of violence, official state action or not, with Spain.

Frankly the US blundered in not annexing all of Germany after World War 1. Would have saved the whole world a lot of trouble down the line

I'm such a fool, I thought that happened in these wars in which George Washington conquered airports.

The Native American genocide was ultimately a series of wars for land fought from the early days of the colonial period to the 1910's.

There's also all of the territory gained from various wars with Indians, including the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.

The United States took Florida in the Seminole Wars and their primary issue was that Black people were freeing themselves from slavery and settling with the Seminole Nation or on their own homesteads. This is basic American history.
