Slave Trade Ban Act

Quote
1. As used in this act:

A. Robot slave means any artificial intelligence that is installed, programmed, or otherwise occupies a physical automaton, device, or other object, that is designed or intended to engage in any labor, work, or other task on behalf of a human being.

2. It shall be a felony punishable by imprisonment for no more than five (5) years and a fine of no less than $10,000.00 and no more than $250,000.00 for any person in Atlasia to knowingly import, sell, rent, or transfer, advertise for sale, rental, or transfer, manufacture for sale, rental, or transfer, transport for the purpose of selling, renting, or transferring, or finance the sale, rental, or transfer, of any robot slave. For purposes of this act, uploading or transmitting a program or code that enables a device to download the artificial intelligence to program a robot slave or a 3D printer to manufacture a robot slave, or the components thereof constitutes a transfer in violation of this provision.

3. It shall be an affirmative defense in any case arising from this legislation that:
A) The removal of an apparent "Robot Slave" would not actually result in an additional human employee being hired, and/or
B) The person, agency, or business being accused maintains at least 70% human employees even after factoring in any alleged "Robot Slaves".
C) This section, or any use thereof, shall not be construed to deny any defendant any constitutional right, including but not limited to the burden upon the state to prove any felony beyond a reasonable doubt.

4. This act shall take effect immediately.

The sponsor, along with his party, voted against SB 117-08 even after a controversial provision on paying robots was eliminated. SB 117-08, as amended, would have prohibited a company from using entirely robot employees through a minimum requirement on the number of human employees. Despite voting No on that initiative, the sponsor now promotes a bill that would completely ban robot employees. Why they refused to support the partial ban in SB 117-08 that would clearly make progress toward their goal, one asks? The only reason that makes sense is utter partisanship to a fault.
This bill is a joke. If this bill becomes law, it would practically endanger numerous businesses overnight by banning self-checkouts, self-checkins at car washes and such, qr code order systems, and many other automations that have become commonplace and do jobs that were extraordinarily unfulfilling (if they were even filled in the first place) when they had to be performed by humans alone. On the other hand, if the bill fails, the sponsor and his party get to call out the Senate for "failing to stop the robot empire" when they did the very same thing by opposing SB 117-08. I, for one, am not interested in playing this game.

Motion to table and ask for a second.
