Thank you PPT Dwarven Dragon,

Religious exemptions for a long time have been a cornerstone in conscientious objections to many areas of moral contention and there is no right to having to perform something against one's values in order to live. This bill will not ban abortion, but rather allow people to opt out of performing them if they have these strong religious convictions.

Doctors who have these religious objections should not go into a specialty that runs explicitly opposed to their views. The patient's health should come first and foremost in all circumstances. Doctors can exercise their religious freedom as they so choose, but that does not entitle them to force their beliefs against others and potentially jeopardize a patient's health.

A doctor refusing an abortion to someone who is experiencing a healthy pregnancy isn't risking their patient's health.

There is nothing morally or constitutionally defendable about forcing someone to violate their sincerely held religious beliefs.

First, this bill does nothing to specify a healthy pregnancy versus a situation in which the life of a mother is at risk. According to the text, the doctor could very well decline emergency surgery.

Second, the fact of the matter is that this bill threatens the rights of patients to access medical care. Allowing professionals in the healthcare sector to deny care to patients at their own whim impedes the patient's right to healthcare. This can be particularly dangerous in more remote areas where reproductive care could become inaccessible due to a lack of qualified providers.

Forcing doctors to perform a purely elective and not medically necessary procedure that they have a genuine religious objection to (which actually is and always has been a real protected right btw), is simply unconstitutional, nor is it a morally acceptable position for anyone to hold.

Doctors deny care all the time. There's numerous circumstnces where this takes place, it is legally protected, and sometimes even the best option to protect both doctors and patients. I truly hope for your sake you aren't really this uninformed.

Nay. This bill will endanger patients seeking medical care and limit healthcare access.

Aye

-> Individual choice and enough other doctors who could perform the act. Should never be a real issue. Being consistently pro-choice here.
